Do you hear those sleigh bells ring-ting-tingling? We sure do! The Holiday season is finally here. It’s that time of year to make memories with loved ones by doing things that get you in the Christmas spirit. Here is a list of the top 10 local events that you won’t want to miss this Christmas.

parade of trees 238x300 11) Santa Clause is Coming to Town at Grassy Knoll

Get your picture taken with Santa Clause at the Grassy Knoll in High Point on Monday, November 25 from 4:30 pm- 6 pm. You can book 25-minute photography sessions with Santa photographed by Aesthetic Images. This is a great chance to get your Christmas card photo taken. 2) Parade of Trees

Once again, the High Point CVB and the Business High Point Chamber of Commerce will host the Parade of Trees, decorated by local Interior Designers and representatives from our area Market Showrooms and Retail Stores. Everyone is invited to stop by and see the Parade of Trees in the Regional Visitor Center, located 1634 N. Main St. Suite 102, between Tuesday, November 26 through the first week of January.

The Little Red Schoolhouse is officially open and the High Point Museum needs help to decorate it for the holiday season. This is the perfect event for families with very young children. Learn how to make paper chains and other decorations for your own house! This is a free event, open to the public, Saturday, November 30 from 10 a.m. to noon.

4) Holiday Paint & Pour with Theatre Art Galleries

Theatre Art Galleries will host another Paint & Pour event on December 5, from 6-8 p.m. at COHAB Space. Enjoy an array of wines and appetizers while creating unique ink glass ornaments. This event will be $30 for TAG members, and $35 for non members. Register on their website or call 336-887-2137.

5) Holiday Open House at Simon Jewelers

Looking for that perfect gift for your significant other? Stop by the Holiday Open House at Simon Jewelers. On Friday, December 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., bring a guest, and have a glass of wine while you walk around and marvel at the beautiful jewelry and gift items.

Have an afternoon filled of Christmas spirit at Mendenhall Homeplace in Jamestown, NC. On Saturday, December 7 from noon to 2:30 p.m., go back in time and have your stylized “tin type” photo taken with Santa Clause at the Madison Lindsay House. This is sure to be a unique photo that will serve as a great Christmas memory. Admission is $10 per family and will include a stocking and cookies from Santa Clause himself! Later that evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., come back and take a walk through Christmas past inside Mendenhall Homeplace of the early 1800s. Follow the luminary paths and view the homeplace in true Victorian style.

holiday stroll 300x167 17) 10th Annual Uptowne High Point Holiday Stroll

Come out on Saturday, December 7th from 10am-4pm and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas at the 10th Annual Uptowne High Point Holiday Stroll. There will be open houses, holiday shopping, horse drawn carriage rides, community performance groups, arts & crafts, local vendors and more! If you purchase an Uptowne stocking now at a participating retailer and bring it with you to the Holiday Stroll, then you will receive free stocking stuffers from select merchants. A portion of the proceeds of the stocking sales will benefit Kiwanis Club’s Christmas Cheer Fund.  Go to the Uptown High Point website or their Facebook page for updated event schedules.

8) High Point University’s Community Christmas Celebration

Journey over to a winter wonderland at High Point University for their 9th Annual Community Christmas Celebration. There will be a life-size nativity scene, a petting zoo, Polar Express train rides, and much more! There are so many things to see and do, but don’t worry! This event will be held for two nights on December 12 and 13 from 5:30pm-8:30pm.

hp ballet nutcracker9) A Christmas Carol at the High Point Theatre

Don’t be a Scrooge this Christmas and get tickets to see the Community Theatre production of A Christmas Carol. It is a traditional Christmas story about the true meaning of Christmas. Show times are Thursday December 12, and Friday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 15 at 2:00p.m.

10) High Point Ballet: The Nutcracker Dec 19-22

Another traditional holiday favorite is The Nutcracker. Join the High Point Ballet for their production of The Nutcracker at the High Point Theatre at one of their performances just before Christmas. Show times are December 19-21 at 7:30 p.m., and on December 22 at 2:00 p.m.
