October is here and it’s bringing the spirited events. Whether you’re a thrill-seekertrick-or-treatercostume-enthusiastfestive-crafter, or cider-sipper you are sure to find something to fit your brand of Spooky Season. Check out some of the best haunts High Point has to offer below!

For the Thrill-Seeker

If it wouldn’t be October for you without creepy clowns with chainsaws or hair-raising stories, then you can’t miss Spookywoods and Mendenhall Homeplace’s historical Halloween events.

Kersey Valley Spookywoods

September 24th-November 5th | Time varies, visit website

Kersey Valley Attractions | 1615 Kersey Valley Rd. | Archdale, NC

 Spookywoods is re-themed each year and this year you will be transported to the town of Kersey Valley and their annual Foundation Day celebration. Visitors of the town will explore the Graveyard, Funeral Home, Butcher Shop, Mine Shaft, Beastro, and more. Enter at your own risk!

Tales from Beyond the Grave

October 14th, 15th, 21st, and 22nd | 4 pm-6 pm

Deep River Cemetery | 5300 W. Wendover Ave. |
High Point, NC

There aren’t many places you’d want to avoid more than a graveyard on Halloween, unless it’s the Deep River Cemetery where you can experience an informative tour about the people who rest there. This guided tour promises to be fun, illuminating, and only slightly spooky.

True Tales of the Macabre

Friday, October 28th | 6:30 pm

Mendenhall Homeplace | 603 W. Main St. | Jamestown, NC

Listen to ghost stories in the very places that they occurred. This guided tour through Mendenhall Homeplace will take place at dusk and guests will hear true stories of the macabre in this over 200-year-old home.

For the Trick-or-Treaters

High Point has lots of options for the trick-or-treaters. The following places plan to keep the creepy to a minimum and the sugar at a maximum (sorry, parents). There will of course be something in it for the adults. The Adams Family Halloween will be serving spirits and Kersey Valley offers cider donuts and a guarantee that you’ll leave with tired kiddos.

Kersey Valley Maize Adventure

Explore Kersey Valley’s two-mile corn maze with your whole family, including the pup! Your tickets include access to the Kersey Valley Express Train, corn maze, jumping pillows, Super Mega Ride N Slide, and more!

Parks & Rec’s Spooky Hoopla

Saturday, October 15th | 5 pm-8 pm

High Point Athletic Complex | 2920 School Park Rd. | High Point, NC

This free event kicks off the Halloween festivities! Enjoy a hayride, brave the haunted trail, and gather goodies at the trunk-or-treat. Wear your costume and bring a bag to collect some treats.

Ghost Stories in the Park

High Point Museum is hosting their 11th Annual Ghost Stories in the Park. This event features snacks, crafts, and spooky, not scary stories from professional storyteller, Cynthia Moore Brown.

HYPE’s Trick-or-Treat!

Join Hype for some Halloween fun! High Point Rockers Baseball has partnered with LEAP to host a free community event at Truist Point Stadium. There will be treats, activities, LEAP’s book-a-treat, and more!

2nd Annual Adams Family Halloween

This family-friendly, spook-tacular event is sure to get everyone in the holiday mood. There will be candy for the trick-or-treaters, spooky story time, festive crafts, and even some spirits for the adults. Get ready for a ghostly getaway at the JH Adams Inn.

If you’ve been planning this year’s costume since November 1st of last year, High Point has plenty of options for you to show off your creativity. Whether that’s the iconic Beer & Fear Bash or the Artshow and Costume Contest at the Brewer’s Kettle, you’ll be able to compete for best-dressed at some of the best venues in High Point.

Haunted Hall

Stock + Grain Assembly, home to Biscuits Brisket & Beer, Bevelry, Pop’s Mini Donuts, Damn Good Dogs, Yumi Sushi, and Message Coffee, will be hosting a costume contest and chili cook-off. There will also be festive decorations and candy for guests.
