The High Point Economic Development Corporation is a city department that works with office, industrial, and retail clients. The High Point EDC works closely together with the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce as members of the Guilford County Economic Development Alliance, which is a collaborative effort along with Guilford County, the City of High Point, and the City of Greensboro. Their mission is to retain existing business and industry in the City of High Point, assist local companies in expanding, attract new businesses to locate in High Point, and encourage the creation of head-of-household jobs in the High Point / Greensboro / Winston-Salem region.

Officially formed during the summer of 2009, The Friends of John Coltrane is a committee of the individuals who worked for several years to raise funds to preserve and celebrate the life and music of John Coltrane and to enrich the lives of others through the introduction of jazz and other musical genres.
Founded as the Guilford Industrial Education Center on April 3, 1958, the training facility was established to prepare workers for technical jobs created by the rapid manufacturing growth in the county.
