This designation was the first step in the initiative to make High Point the next Certified Autism Destination (CAD), with the purpose of improving the experiences and outcomes for individuals with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

This is a major collaborative effort resulting in a more inclusive High Point experience for both those visiting and residents. The training provides a better understanding to what autism is and isn’t and how to empathize and understand how individuals with autism experience the world, communicate more effectively and be aware of common sensitivities and concerns in a recreational environment.

Join The Initiative

Visit High Point is inviting tourism partners, including hotels, attractions and restaurants, to join us as we strive to become the most inclusive destination in North Carolina and on the East Coast.
